Pets Corner – February 2019

One of the best parts of my job is interacting with all kinds of animals, including many different breeds among the same species of pet. This month, I’m bringing you info about a very cool and unique breed of cat called the Scottish Fold! These cats are best known for their ear tips, which are typically folded downward into a cute little curl. In addition, Scottish Fold cats:

  • have very round, wide faces that tend to be more flat in the front, giving them an adorable owlish appearance!
  • are medium-sized, very affectionate, and are known for their outgoing, laid-back personalities.
  • really do come from Scotland – in fact, every Scottish Fold cat alive today can be traced back to an ancestor named Susie, who was born in Pertshire, Scotland in 1961!

I love learning about lesser known pet breeds, and I hope you do too – look for more information about interesting breeds in future Pets Corner columns! Have a beautiful month, and don’t forget to keep chocolate and sweets away from your pets around Valentine’s Day!
